New Shakira video for “Las de la Intuicion”

Can someone please explain this to me?

Because I’m confused. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad Shakira is taking a break from the bellydancing. I was getting tired of her constant need to remind us yet AGAIN that her hips could always be counted on if they were ever called upon to testify in court. I’m also glad that that song can finally be laid to rest in the same graveyard that Santana’s “Smooth” rots.  ( I must’ve heard “Smooth” 4354357136 times on the radio.)

But this is definitely a step in the opposite direction. Burlesque-anime school girl Shakira? This is probably tantalizing for men everywhere but I’m not really sure what to think. It looks as if the budget for this video was pretty low so they threw something together at the last minute and tried to make it look like a mish-mash between a rap video with Shakira dancing in front of an expensive car and a Robert Palmer video. Didn’t she see Beyonce’s “Green Light” video? And then there’s the song. “Las De La Intuicion” is from Fijacion Oral Vol. 1!!! I thought we were all past that album! Does it make sense to release a single from 2005 after you’ve released an album in 2006 that you’ve already ignored! Does this mean there’s still hope for “En Tus Pupilas” to be released?! Ok, I’m calm.  Shakira, you know I would choose you over Beyonce any day. I just had a completely different vision for this song–maybe you walking through busy streets that follows with you on stage at some trendy club? It’s just a thought. What does everyone else think?
