Yes, Jordin Sparks took home the gold in this year’s American Idol battle, but it’s time to weigh in on her and runner-up Blake Lewis’s success after the show. We all know that you aren’t a winner if you can’t sell an album. So far, both singers have released their album cover art. Let’s take a look and see who has won the first round eh?
First up, we’ve got winner Sparks with her long black locks in a leather jacket and a green scarf. And it appears to be raining(?) directly behind her, but not on her, of course. Despite her makeup being flawless, it looks a bit like it took the photoshop dude about five minutes to put this thing together. He also seemed to forget that she’s not white. And her blank stare seems to say ‘This photoshoot is a bore and I couldn’t care less.” Yes Jordin, this album cover is a bore. What happened? Why so goth?
And in this corner, Blake Lewis pulls off his ‘I’m cute, funny and want to be Justin Timberlake’ look. And he does it well. Because even if his facial expression is slightly retarded, he’s got the color, audio imagery and spacey galaxy thing down. If I saw this at the record store (Target), I think I’d actually be interested to see what it sounds like. Lewis wins this battle, despite the bad highlights.
