Oh how I love a proper rock star feud. If you haven’t heard, Noel Gallagher criticized Jay-Z’s headline slot at Glastonbury. The Oasis guitarist said he was not happy that a rapper was headling a rock festival. Jay-Z retorted with a cover of Wonderwall. He continued the feud last night at Madison Square Garden where he started off a song with:
That bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar/Somebody should have told him I’m a fuckin’ rock star. Today is gonna be the day that I’m gonna throw it back to you.
Ain’t that genius? then he added a line of from Oasis’ biggest hit “Wonderwall.” Gallagher, who graces the cover of NME this week has since addressed the feud as well. Noel says:
I wasn’t saying I was better than Jay-Z as a person or rock was greater than hip-hop. I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong, and now all this [media furore].
He’s also said he’d like to “have a beer” with Jay-Z. Oh how I’d love to be a fly on the wall when that happens. Anywho, here’s a video of the incident.
