A&E’s “Intervention” + Amy Winehouse = Win!

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with A&E’s reality show “Intervention.” It basically consists of cameramen following around various drug addicts to record their everyday shenanigans. Whether it’s selling their body for drug money, alienating themselves from their families or getting high, it all gets caught on tape for the world to see.

At the end of the episode, family and friends of each junkie gather for an intervention where pleading, tears and acceptance usually follow (in some instances a police chase ensues). It sounds kind of exploitative but it really is a great show. It’s the closest thing anyone will come to documenting someone’s downward spiral. The footage is extremely shocking and painful to watch because you’re basically witnessing someone’s demise as it happens– kind of like Amy Winehouse.

So here’s my idea. Can we get the people at “Intervention” to do a celebrity edition of the show? Amy is probably completely oblivious to everything around her, so I doubt she’s ever heard of the show which makes tricking her into it that much easier. Think about it people! It would boost ratings, Amy would be cured of her addiction, we get more awesome music and less vomit-inducing photos of an anorexic, scabby woman.
