She’s got rock legend David Bowie on it 50 most controversial album coversWednesday, March 19th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraEver wonder what the most controversial album covers are? I do. No, seriously, I sometimes sit around and think about the most offensive cover art I’ve ever come across. Check out the list here. It’s actually pretty awesome. Oh, and it’s not safe for the kiddies or work.
Fugly Album Art: MadonnaSaturday, March 15th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraI’ve been anticipating Madonna’s new image for her album Hard Candy, scheduled to be released in April. After all, she’s the queen of making random stuff cool (see disco stuff, fishnet gloves, pointy bras.) So it looks like she’s adopting this whole boxer sheik thing for her new album. I can see how this would be so many shades of awesome. But this cover? I dunno Madonna. I mean, I’ve seen your crotch about a billion times so this isn’t really anything new. And this font? It looks like that “Porky’s” font on my computer. But perhaps the biggest problem I have with this is your head. What’s up with your hair? It looks almost like you shaved half of it. And why is your mouth open like that? You look a little “mentally disabled” if you know what I mean. Yes, yes, I know you’re hitting 50 and you’re trying to prove to the world that you’re still cool and relevant, but was this really the way to do it? Eh, what do you all think? Take a look at Ashlee Simpson’s cover art for her new album “Bittersweet World.” This looks like one of those cheap wallpapers offered at an unofficial Ashlee Simpson fansite — the ones created by 12-year-olds with an old version of Photoshop on their dad’s computer. I understand Simpson is going for an 80s vibe on her new record, but I think it could’ve been done in a more creative way without looking like a 10-minute project. Ashlee looks homeless and the font looks like the one spray-painted on the wall a few blocks from my house.
