Elvis Presley no longer holds Billboard records for most No. 1s Fugly Album Art: Ashlee SimpsonSunday, March 9th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraI think I’m going to start a weekly “Fugly Album Art” feature because I’ve been coming across some pretty terrible album sleeves lately. Take a look at Ashlee Simpson’s cover art for her new album “Bittersweet World.” This looks like one of those cheap wallpapers offered at an unofficial Ashlee Simpson fansite — the ones created by 12-year-olds with an old version of Photoshop on their dad’s computer. I understand Simpson is going for an 80s vibe on her new record, but I think it could’ve been done in a more creative way without looking like a 10-minute project. Ashlee looks homeless and the font looks like the one spray-painted on the wall a few blocks from my house.
Kanye West, Chris Martin “Homecoming” stillsFriday, March 7th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraKanye just posted a few screencaps from his new video with Coldplay’s Chris Martin for “Homecoming” on his blog. The song is one of my favorites from “Graduation.” Looks like Kanye went back to Chi-town for a real life homecoming of his own. I don’t know if I dig the black and whiteness of it all, but I’m glad Chris made an appearance. He’s a big part of the song. I hope we get to see a live performance from both to promote the single. Keith Richards for Louis VuittonWednesday, March 5th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraKeith Richards is in a new Louis Vuitton ad. All I can think about when I look at this is the fact that the man is 64 years old. He’s 3 years younger than my dad and my dad looks 10 years younger than he does. Even photoshop can’t help the man. ___________________________________ Photo courtesy of The Daily Swarm New music releases for 3/4/08: Black Crowes, Alan JacksonThursday, February 28th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraAP gives Radiohead is coming!Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 by Crystal OlveraRadiohead have finally released ticket sale information for the following North American dates. I’ve been a big fan of Rolling Stone covers, mostly because they manage to capture an actor or musician’s personality in a creative way that accurately defines them. Even though the magazine has changed a lot over the past few years — moving But nevertheless, exploitation for profit aside, I love the cover, too. The Update: I totally spoke too soon. Update: And if you want to have a laugh about it. ____________________________________ Photos courtesy of Rolling Stone
