Freak-a-leak: “I See Houses” by The Verve

August 16th, 2008, 3:08 am by Crystal Olvera

That nostalgic feeling you get suddenly when you listen to a song from your past or sniff an aroma that bring memories of your childhood — that’s what I get when I listen to The Verve’s new stuff. I feel as though I embarked on a 10-year-long vacation and suddenly, I’m back home. “I get this feeling that I, I’ve been here before” Richard Ashcroft sings in new song “I See Houses,” from The Verves fourth album “Forth.” And that’s exactly how I feel. Check out “I See Houses” here.

There’s more to The Verve than “Bittersweet Sympony.” Check out “Sonnet” below.

Bands that rock: The Wombats

April 19th, 2008, 1:59 pm by Crystal Olvera

I’m a sucker for Brit bands and songs about New York. So, when I came across The Wombatsthewombats300.jpg infectious “Moving to New York,” we were a match made in heaven. These three blokes from Liverpool, England have the comedic charm, noisey guitars and sugary pop hooks that are both fun, yet meaningful. In fact, they’ve also got a 90s alt-rock feel to them. Check out their cover of Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.”

Keith Richards for Louis Vuitton

March 5th, 2008, 7:22 pm by Crystal Olvera

Keith Richards is in a new Louis Vuitton ad. All I can think about when I look at this is the fact that the man is 64 years old. He’s 3 years younger than my dad and my dad looks 10 years younger than he does. Even photoshop can’t help the man.
